Our history
The Colburn & Son Insurance Agency was organized as a partnership in 1914 by Fayette H. Colburn and his son, Harry. In 1938, Duane Colburn joined his father, Harry, in the agency. The agency was incorporated as Colburn & Son, Inc., in 1963, and other employees became stockholders. In 1978, Colburn & Son, Inc., expanded by acquiring Owen, Elk and Holmes Insurance and Real Estate of Storm Lake, now named Colburn & Elk.

Today
The current owners, Chip Colburn and Tancy Colburn Becker, are the fourth generation of Colburns to own and operate the agency. They are proud to continue the family tradition of providing quality insurance from reputable companies at competitive prices.

Colburn & Son is an independent insurance agency and writes virtually all types of insurance for customers in several states. Since its inception, Colburn & Son has specialized in farm insurance, including equine insurance.
